Meet Judge Eboni
Judge Eboni Johnson Rose is a native of Houma, Louisiana, but has deep roots in the heart of Baton Rouge. Judge Rose has a proven track record in the courtroom for being tough on career criminal offenders, and a passion for solving critical issues that have improved the East Baton Rouge Parish community.
Judge Johnson Rose has proudly served Baton Rouge as a District Court Judge after being elected in December 2020. Her experience handling civil and criminal matters, including domestic violence and traffic, from the District Court bench has given her an understanding of the root issues of many community problems. Judge Rose’s decision-making is guided by her faith in God and her ability to be impartial to all litigants who enter the courtroom. Judge Rose’s favorite quote is, “To whom much is given, much more is required.” Luke 12:48
Judge Johnson Rose began her legal career as an associate attorney with McGlinchey Stafford in the Baton Rouge office, honing her legal skills. With a desire to be a servant leader, she spent the majority of her legal career working to improve our community as an Associate Attorney with the State of Louisiana, working for the Department of Children & Family Services, the Department of Education, the Division of Administration and the Department of Transportation & Development. For nearly nine years, Judge Johnson Rose handled hundreds of cases across the State, enforcing laws meant to protect the most vulnerable. These experiences put her in tune with the needs of our State and will serve as a foundation for serving our community.
Judge Johnson Rose is also active in many civic, professional, and social organizations, such as the Baton Rouge Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, Louis A. Martinet Society, Louisiana Judicial Council of the National Bar Association, District Judges Association, and American Judicial Association. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Judge Rose also serves as Chair of several committees, moderator, and presenter at continuing legal education seminars for judges and attorneys. She also mentors newly sworn-in attorneys through the Louisiana State Bar Association TIP Mentor Program. Judge Johnson Rose has also been an adjunct professor at the Southern University Law Center, teaching Advanced Legal Writing and Evidence courses.
She is active not only in legal activities but also in her community. She volunteers her time reading to middle school students with Volunteers in Public Schools and serves as a judge in the Baton Rouge Bar Association Mock Trial Competition and the Southern University Law Center Trial Advocacy Competition. Judge Johnson Rose has also served on the Board of Directors for Motivating Excellence Academy of Student Success and Volunteers in Public Schools.
Judge Johnson Rose earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Southern University. She later earned a Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center, graduating Magna Cum Laude, where she proudly served as Chief Editor of the Law Review from 2003-2005. Judge Johnson Rose is also currently pursuing a Master’s in Judicial Studies, with a planned graduation in May 2025.
Judge Johnson Rose is married to Jonathan Rose, Sr. She is the proud parent of twin girls, Kourtney and Kayley, and two sons, Antonio and Jonathan, Jr. Her husband, Jonathan, is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, and is the owner of Desselle Funeral Home.
